R.I.O. Program FAQ

Why choose our virtual art residency?

Our virtual residency programs offer a flexible and accessible approach to artistic practice. They are designed to support artists, foster genuine connections, and create meaningful works, all while removing many of the logistical barriers associated with traditional residencies.

  • Accessible from anywhere: No travel, visa requirements, or relocation needed. Artists can participate directly from their own studios or spaces, wherever they are in the world.

  • Guided & community-driven: Artists engage in live sessions, group discussions, mentorship, and shared learning throughout the residency.

  • Flexible yet connected: The virtual format allows artists to balance work, family, or studies while remaining part of an active and engaged cohort.

  • Professional outcome: Each residency culminates in a curated virtual exhibition, open to the public and shared internationally.

  • Value-driven focus: Programs are built around core themes such as ocean conservation, sustainability, land, and climate. They align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and are officially endorsed as an Activity under the UNESCO Ocean Decade.

Fees & Program Sustainability

Program fees are detailed in the Terms and Conditions of each open call. These fees help cover facilitation, guest collaborators, exhibition production, and operational costs, allowing us to run the program sustainably and responsibly.

  • Are there sponsorships or scholarships available? Both MANGO and its collaborating partner entities operate independently and do not receive private or government funding. For this reason, none of our programs are sponsored or fully funded. However, we provide official acceptance letters to accepted artists seeking external funding or grant support to present to relevant institutions.
